Our Research
The funds we have donated to the Department of Dermatology at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust over the past 40 years have helped doctors and scientists establish international reputations in the areas of:-
  • contact dermatitis
  • allergy
  • photodermatology
Two years ago, we began funding a new project involving the use of specially trained dogs to recognise cancer on the basis of its smell (canine olfactory detection of cancer). Although the long-term aim is to detect skin cancer, the initial study centred on bladder cancer as a simple and convenient experimental model. The results of this study are very encouraging and have recently been published in the BMJ (BMJ.com).
